Agency fit reaches beyond fields and forms. It includes who can make a decision, which policy applies, how an exception is reviewed and where responsibility passes next. Our approach accommodates these meaningful differences while supporting the consistency an agency wants to establish.

The goal is connected casework, with less repeated entry and clearer responsibilities across the systems an agency depends on.
Clear information, connected tasks and intuitive data entry help practitioners keep their attention on the case. We design around what they need to understand, record, review and do next, so working in the system becomes a natural part of supporting children and families.
Responsive layouts, keyboard access and accessibility checks are part of that design, alongside workflows that account for approvals, waiting periods and recovery after interruptions.
Explore the casework experienceFederal and state requirements evolve. Our approach follows a change through the decisions, workflows and information it affects, including effective dates and cases already in progress. The agency’s authoritative interpretation guides the change; verification checks the resulting behavior to support continued compliance.
Continuity matters while technology changes. Chiron’s modular approach is designed to work alongside existing systems, with clear boundaries for data and responsibility. Transition planning considers the caseworker’s whole journey, including work that will continue elsewhere during a phased implementation.
Explore delivery and continuityDecisions affecting a child deserve careful engineering. Our design treats access, decision context and reviewability as connected responsibilities. Requirements, expected behavior and verification belong together, so a change can be assessed against the work it is intended to support.
Agency single sign-on, access shaped by role and case responsibility, and reviewable business audit history belong in the product design. The aim is to make clear who acted, under which authority and with what information.
Integration first, from the outset
Useful integration means information reaches the right place, with its meaning and responsibility intact. Chiron's integration design considers the whole exchange, from the originating system to the next action in a case.
Integration planning covers APIs, event-driven messaging and scheduled or batch exchanges. The approach is selected around the agency's existing systems, information-sharing agreements and the urgency of each update.
Event-driven exchanges can support real-time or near-real-time updates where connected systems permit. An agency's Kafka infrastructure or another messaging service can be evaluated as part of the integration scope, with the chosen connection and delivery behavior validated for that implementation.
Our design accounts for validation, retries, duplicate handling and reconciliation when an exchange is delayed or fails. Monitoring should make unresolved exchanges visible to the responsible team, so an interruption does not quietly become missing case information.
Each exchange needs a defined source of truth, agreed data meaning and appropriate access. Interface versioning and reviewable exchange history help teams manage change while preserving the responsibilities of Chiron and the systems around it.
Connection choices and update timing depend on the participating systems and are agreed and verified for each implementation.
Cloud and AI, in service of the mission
Technology earns its place when it makes agency software easier to adapt, maintain and trust. Chiron brings cloud-oriented product design and AI-assisted engineering together to support that goal, so agencies can keep their focus on children and families.
Chiron is designed for single-tenant deployment: each agency has a dedicated application and data environment within its own cloud account or subscription. The agency retains control over data location, access policies and operating requirements, with development and testing separated from live casework.
Cloud provider, security controls, continuity and operating cost are considered with the agency and its implementation partner. Our AWS evaluation roadmap includes containerized hosting, managed PostgreSQL, protected artifact storage and monitoring for development, verification and demonstration environments.
AI assists our software engineering process. We pair that assistance with reviewed requirements, testing and independent review to support careful agency adaptation as the product evolves.
Our engineering approach includes planned, continuous reduction of technical debt: identifying unnecessary complexity, simplifying code and keeping dependencies current, with verification to protect existing behavior. This keeps maintainability part of everyday development as agency needs change.
Our processes include AI-assisted discovery to identify policies and business rules implemented in legacy systems where documentation has not kept pace. We review those findings with agency experts to distinguish intended requirements from outdated rules or unintended behavior. Amazon Bedrock is part of our planned evaluation of AI services.
Agency experts retain authority over policy interpretation, and practitioners remain responsible for decisions affecting children and families. Proposed AI assistance must have a clear purpose, appropriate information access and reviewable outputs.
Our planned cloud and AI evaluations use synthetic or explicitly authorized material, with quality, security and cost assessed before broader use.
Chiron's delivery design includes built-in continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) workflows for repeatable builds, automated verification, security checks and controlled deployment. These workflows are designed to integrate with the agency's DevSecOps tooling and approval processes.
Versioned releases, environment-specific configuration, upgrade checks and recovery plans help teams introduce change with discipline. Toolchain integration is scoped and validated with the agency and its delivery partner.
Cloud deployment and AI capabilities are being developed and evaluated around agency needs.
